Beginner Knitting with Up-Stitch Volunteer Molly!

Do you want to learn to knit? Join our class! We will cover the skills you need to knit a pair of fingerless mitts or a trio of coasters in this fun and friendly class for adult learners. All levels of beginning knitters welcome! Supplies included with tuition.

Join us via Zoom for a virtual sewing bee for the local organization The MoonCatcher Project! Girls in developing countries often drop out of school when they reach puberty because they have no access to feminine hygiene products. The MoonCatcher Project provides reusable, washable, menstrual pads that can be worn without underwear to girls in the poorest communities worldwide. 

Ellie von Wellsheim, Director of the MoonCatcher Project, will join us via Zoom to provide instruction on how to make the materials needed for these hygiene products.  The Mooncatcher Project and Up-Stitch will provide the material.

We will embroider the word "hope" onto fabric for a pillowcase or wall hanging in one or more of the many languages that surround us in the Capital Region. Go Green at the Bach Library: Learn to sew market bags with Up-Stitch! Our wonderful volunteer and master teacher Maureen Feeney will show you how to sew a reusable market bag from upcycled fabric! Sewing machine experience is necessary. All materials will be provided, but bring your own portable sewing machine. Please join us to create unique gifts for area Alzheimer patients. A fidget quilt is a lap blanket that provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of someone with Alzheimer's and/or other forms of dementia. As patients lose their cognitive abilities, they often need something to keep their hands busy. These blankets will provide a zipper to move and loops of trim to slide fingers in and out of. Anyone is welcome, all materials will be provided!
